During this past Block, our students have shown an exemplary attitude towards learning through these challenging times, we are very proud of their efforts and have collected some wonderful reflections from them regarding their experience with online learning:

Primary Student Reflections

Can be easier in different ways - today I could use the private chat to ask my teacher questions about the online test, but in class I would have to go up to her and then I could disturb the other students from their test, so this is better.
Year 5 student
I really enjoy talk & discussion time when we are in smaller groups on Zoom.
Year 3 student
Nothing beats being in the classroom, however our teachers handle it very successfully.
Year 6 student
Online school is ok but it’s harder than normal school, it is hard to speak to one particular person but the teachers are nice. It is very similar to normal school, but I still prefer normal school because I miss my friends.
Year 5 student
I like Zoom because we can share screen to show where to do the work and if we couldn’t share our screen we wouldn’t able to know which task we need to do.
Year 4 student
Distance learning might be hard but it’s also fun at the same time. I have had an experience of distance learning last year but this year it’s something new!
Year 6 students
I really like all the apps that we use like Epic, and Quizlet and Kahoot. They make the online lessons more fun and interesting
Year 3 student
It feels like the school day is shorter, even though it is not.
Year 5 student
My online learning experience so far has been really good. It can be hard sometimes but I think it’s going really well. It’s only been easy because Mr Kokalj has made it fun and easy to learn like he always does. The school has made online learning fun!
Year 6 student
The good thing about online learning is that it is easier to work together if we are in different classes.
Year 5 student
Canvas is making my timetable less complicated but I miss my friends and it's easier to work in school.
Year 6 student
We don't waste time on certain things, like for PE walking to Ludus, we go straight to lessons through zoom sessions.
Year 5 student
It sad that I can't see my friends, and it is a lot harder for me to learn online, but I enjoy it!

Secondary Student Reflections

I am impressed by how organised online schooling can get. Much like real life schooling everything is the same, however we students face the challenge of being even more independent and responsible than we are in school. In a way, online schooling is giving us the opportunity to learn how to manage things in our life, and that is a skill we will need for years to come.
Year 10 student
Even though the transition to fully online-based learning from the usual school-based learning is a big step, I personally have found it to be, for the most part, a positive experience, where I am still able to interact with my teachers and classmates on a daily basis, receive feedback on my work for finding areas to improve on and gaining the opportunity of doing more independent self-study with the materials that the teachers regularly post on Canvas.
Year 12 student
Online learning is not harder than actual school. You just have to be organised and be on time to your lessons. You can maybe make a timeline of the Zoom calls or write them down somewhere.
Year 7 student
I have only had positive experiences with online learning. My teachers put a lot of effort in the lessons to make it engaging and interesting, and there have been no issues with the communication over Canvas and Zoom.
Year 13 student
Over the two months of studying online last school year and two weeks this year, this time it’s much more organised as if we were at school, we are able to get the same amount of information and at some points online learning becomes even easier such as when we are using break out rooms. Overall I enjoy the way we have to study right now, but still looking forward to going back to school.
Year 9 student
I always try to take part in the activities in class and try to keep my homework up to date. Overall, online schooling has been hard for me but my teachers are trying hard to help me get through my subjects and making sure that I am doing the work with the best of my abilities.
Year 11 student
The overall control over digital assessments is always punctual, and should we miss a lesson or fail to meet a deadline, we get notified immediately, which discourages you from doing anything similar in the future.
Year 13 student
Of course some days are better than others, however most of the time it is ok. I have noticed it is harder to stay focused and concentrated when you're not in a school environment
Year 10 student
I have found the accessibility and organisation of online work have fostered motivation, responsibility, and an improved work ethic in my life; something which I was struggling with during in-school classes.
Year 13 student
I’ve been enjoying online learning quite a lot so far, as it appears to be really comfortable, especially regarding waking up in the morning and other daily habits. It also gives me more free time for the things I enjoy, like cycling or going on a walk. Taking a break from the regular daily routine is very pleasing.
Year 11 student
I think online learning is challenging from both sides, however I will say that this time around it is much better. Everything seems more organised and the majority of people know how to use Canvas and Zoom, which is helpful when submitting work. We also get feedback easier.
Year 10 student
With online learning, now it is easier to organise your own time for revision and studying, as all the resources are posted by teachers on Canvas so the access to them is very convenient.
Year 13 student

Once again a huge thank you to parents for their support, we are all very grateful for your encouragement and best wishes on distance learning so far, it means a lot to us and our teachers.
