It has been an honour to celebrate Founder's Day this year with a range of tributes, together with a planting ceremony of a memorial tree in our Woodland Area.
We are proud to continue the tradition of Founder's Day and to celebrate our Founder, Jeremy Hibbins, during a very respectful event, welcoming all students, teachers and visitors into BISL once again to mark this important and special day.
The ceremony began with a speech by Mr. Walton, written by Paul Hibbins, giving a beautiful background to Jeremy, his vision and how he set up our school here in Ljubljana. How his life revolved around teaching and education matters, his pedagogical ideas and his passion for music. The ceremony included with a few special words from our Year 12 student, Christopher Charlesworth, who recounted some wonderful memories of Jeremy.
The memorial tree planted in our Woodland Area will serve a meaningful dedication to Jeremy Hibbins and will be a permanent reminder for future staff and students to observe.
The end of the celebration concluded with a few words by Mr Walton, dedicated to the memory of Jeremy:
"Out of respect for Jeremy, we strive to maintain a positive, caring, and nurturing environment from his original vision and continue to develop a high-quality international school. We are all passionate about giving our very best at school to enable our students to succeed, each and every single one of them, in this inclusive, friendly and challenging environment.
We appreciate all members of the community that have helped BISL over the years and are excited about the future of the British International School of Ljubljana."
Every year, members of the school are recognised and celebrated through the presentation of awards. The Founder's Day Awards from the Hibbins' this year are proudly awarded to:
Ioannis Alekos - Academic Achievement Award
Tatiana Smirnova - Music Award
Daria Tokar - Community Award
We look forward to our next Founder's Day and many future celebrations to come.
