This year's Winter Adventure Days took place in Slovenia's majestic ski resort, Vogel.
On the last three Fridays of Block 4, our Secondary students set off on their Winter Adventure Days to Vogel for a range of fantastic activities ahead.
The weather was amazing, offering three delightful days in the glistening snow and sun. The journey up in the mountain cable car showcased beautiful and unique views of Lake Bohinj and the surrounding mountains below. After exiting the cable car, our students soaked in the surrounding area from a breathtaking advantage, and got to see the famous Mt. Triglav too.
Students were able to pick from a range of activities including ice skating, snowshoeing, snow rafting, and skiing.
Students opting for a day of skiing were met by two wonderful ski instructors from the local ski school who were able to provide a safe and enjoyable ski experience for our students. With the sun on their face and fresh snow on the mountain, our students were able to enjoy several ski runs throughout the day.
For the non-skiing alternative snow adventure sports, our students started with ice skating and enjoyed learning how to transition their indoor hockey skills and tried their hand at playing some ice hockey under the guidance of PAC sports instructors. Students were then able to join the rest of their peers at the top of the mountain where they learnt about snowshoeing and went on a challenging off-road hike through the forest on the ski grounds. Up next, snow rafting! For a thrill of speed and so much fun, our students went safely speeding down the mountain in a snow rafting tube and achieved speeds of over 50 kilometres per hour!
With the direction of PAC sports and our Physics teacher, Mr Stanič, our students conducted small experiments about how to place their weight in the snow raft to try to meet different objectives such as distance and speed predicted goals.
At the end of the day, both skiers and non-skiers met in the snow park and enjoyed some time together playing and socialising before heading down the beautiful mountain and returning safely home from a day full of action-packed snow excitement.
The days have received so much positive response, it was a very successful series of events for our students!
