As an Outstanding school, despite the global challenges of this academic year, our students have maintained excellent outcomes in their recent Progress Tests in English and Mathematics, consistently above the UK average.
We are delighted to announce our outstanding results from the recent PTE and PTM assessments at school. These are subject attainment tests for English and Maths and are standardised across 100,000 children to accurately measure how our school and our students are performing against peers around the world.
The PTE (Progress Test in English) assesses the technical English Skills of the students, including spelling, grammar and punctuation, as well as reading comprehension. The PTM (Progress Test in Maths) monitors the mathematical skills and knowledge, in areas such as number, shape, data handling and algebra, as well as their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills. These tests are provided by GL Assessment and are used in over 100 countries worldwide, including our family of schools in the Orbital Education Group.
Paul WaltonPrincipalIt is incredible to see such amazing results again from the students at BISL! Their hard work, attitude and the fantastic support from teachers has enabled our students to perform exceptionally well and show outstanding progress across the school. It is very pleasing to see how happy students are with their progress in class with their numeracy and literacy. I am very proud to see our students achieve significantly above the international benchmark once again. Congratulations to every single student in the school and thank you to teachers and parents for your support and encouragement. Well done!
The raw score of each student from these assessments are converted into a standardised score which takes into account the student’s age in years and months, creating a Standard Age Score (SAS), used as a recognised benchmark to measure performance against a sample of students of the same age in the fairest way possible.

Our students have once again produced outstanding academic outcomes, raising the standards and setting the bar higher for the next cohort. These charts show the consistently high standards achieved by our students at BISL over the last 6 years, with the past 4 years being truly remarkable.
A big congratulations to all of the KS3 Secondary students who completed the PTE and PTM this block. They have achieved some wonderful results and should be very proud of their efforts over the academic year.
Stephanie AndronikosHead of Secondary SchoolThis is particularly impressive when you take into account that 90% of our students here at BISL have English as an additional language and are being compared to their UK peers.
The students have been fantastic and truly deserve all the plaudits for their outstanding results.
The teachers have worked extremely hard with the students and put in a tremendous amount of effort with:
Thorough and comprehensive preparation for the standardised tests
Ongoing regular and detailed personalised feedback to ensure good progress
High-quality resources, videos and activities to engage students
Independent learning activities to guide, consolidate and extend learning
