Dear reader,
At the end of Block 4, we celebrated and recognised the hugely important role that parents play in our community. We were delighted to run the Parents Appreciation Breakfast as a way to acknowledge the wonderful parents of our students at school. Cards with pictures, heartfelt messages and creative designs were carefully crafted by the students. We join the students in saying thank you for your support and for everything you do. This follows the recent ‘Student Appreciation Day’, another important event to show how we value everyone in our school.
Our students have enjoyed a range of activities including the Ski Trips which are a fantastic way to learn beyond the classroom, to challenge oneself and to try something new. The photographs and videos of the Ski Trips looked amazing and our gratitude goes out to staff who helped organise these events.
I walk around the school each day and shared with the staff that the atmosphere lately has been incredible. The improvement in the quality of learning at school has developed overall and the students are putting in an unbelievable amount of energy, effort and dedication in doing their best every day at school. The comments from the recent Parents Survey continue to show that we are a school that is improving quickly as we move forward. The results from our Parents Survey and action plan can be found here. I have been very pleased with the amount of pride our students show in the presentation and quality of their work, also the number of students spending time reading and some completing extra work outside of school as a result of how passionate and inquisitive they are about learning more. Our teaching staff have been outstanding lately and never fail to impress me with their dedication, commitment and enthusiasm into giving their best for the students in our school.
We have enjoyed a large increase in the number of pictures and videos on Facebook showcasing the learning experiences of students in the classroom and also some fantastic new additions to the newsletters such as the ‘Student’s Perspective’, student quotes and more articles portraying what the students are doing on our school website. These further improvements all bring the experiences of our students closer to you.
Our new ‘Theme’ now moves from Languages to English in block 5. Thank you to everyone involved in creating awareness about various languages – these are proudly displayed around the school. Language and internationalism are of paramount importance in our school and are something that we value deeply and enjoy sharing with others.
Finally, thank you to the parents who attended the last coffee morning and suggested ideas for improving communication at school. Various ideas and projects that have grown from these coffee mornings have made a huge difference to our school and I am very grateful for your feedback and positive drive in helping us improve the school for the students further.
Kind regards,
Paul Walton
