On Thursday afternoon, the Year One classroom was buzzing with an air of expectancy as the children presented three plays to their parents.
The plays were based on the traditional tales of ‘Red Riding Hood’, ‘Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.
The stage was set, the woodland scenery complete and the cottages of various shapes and sizes in place. The children were ready, looking amazing and able to take on their roles of each of the characters with a theatrical confidence. They worked hard to learn all of their lines and to act in their roles. Some of them also, having various costume changes in between the stories.
The children showed just how much they have grown in confidence since the beginning of the academic year, and even more so, since they performed their Christmas musical of ‘Hump’ to their parents (But they were fantastic even then!). They enjoy taking on their roles and speaking in front of an audience, so much so that, they are already asking about their next assembly and requesting that they have more major roles and words to learn! Future movie stars are in the making!
So watch this space for the announcement of the next.... Year One mini- musical.
