In the current year we have introduced a new afterschool activity in which we have been following the national Scout programme of Slovenia. After learning various knots, first aid, how to build a tent and map reading skills the BISL Scout group named »The Phoenixes« has been awarded Scout scarves representing their teamwork, knowledge and persistence.
The Scout Association of Slovenia is a voluntary, non- profit, educational movement for youth. It is part of the world's largest youth movement- the World Organization of the Scout Movement, with over 50 million members worldwide and around 9000 members in Slovenia. The Scouting mission is to contribute to the wholesome education so that young people can become self-fulfilled as individuals and can become agents of positive change who inspire others to take action. The goal of the Scouting education is to contribute to the development of individuals, which are autonomous, supportive, responsible and committed. This is achieved through activities that take place in nature, support learning by doing, are useful in everyday life, encourage work in small groups and are supported by adults.
