Music has been developing continuously since September and now that we have reached the end of the term parents, students and school have much to be proud of. A large number of students are musically involved not only during school time but also with the BIMS after-school music programme. The school has been hosting instrumental and vocal lessons offered by a team of 16 dedicated professionals who between them are currently teaching over 100 lessons per week. We are most fortunate to have so many highly skilled and experienced teachers, many of whom are themselves seasoned performers in their own right, providing excellent tuition, The Music department has received some new resources to boost student’s participation in music making in all areas of the creative arts. The school now has a new set of Yamaha PSR E-363 keyboards with stands and AKG headphones for silent practice in the classroom. We also have two new digital pianos for lessons and concerts, both of which will be seen in action during the upcoming Winter Shows. Most importantly, our talented music students continue to make a huge contribution to the musical life of the school. During December they will be performing in the BIMS and BISL Winter Shows. There will be some wonderful performances to saviour, such as the evocative and haunting ‘Round Midnight songs by Tatiana representing the Sixth Form; an uptempo arrangement of White Christmas performed by the Year 11 music students and Carol of the Bells (like you’ve never heard them before) performed by the Year 10 music students. In addition to the upper school, there will be some wonderful musical contributions from the Pre-school, KS1 - KS3 year groups who have been practising tirelessly for many weeks to get their performances ready.
