Dear Parents,

We are delighted with the news this week as the schools reopen for younger students, we now plan to safely bring back our students from selected Primary classes in a 'staggered' return to the building. We look forward to seeing the students again soon and are excited that they can return to the classrooms and see their teachers and friends face to face. As previously followed, we will continue to review the Health and Safety and provision at school on a daily basis. A deep clean was completed again this week and we have completed another inspection of the school site prior to this reopening. Daily cleaning has been ongoing and our hygiene checks and standards have been maintained.

With the work continuing on the new building and amazing progress visible now with the completion of the facade, lift and bridge, this promises to be a very important few months for our community. Students now beginning to return to the building is another welcome boost at this time.

We look forward to further classes returning when guidance suggests.

Our plan below includes:

  • Communication of the classes to return
  • Health and Safety
  • Pre-opening procedures
  • Mask guidance
  • Timetable of classes
  • FAQs

For detailed information, please see the BISL January 2021 Reopening Procedure Guidance.

Class teachers will email out further specific instructions to parents for individual classes returning to the building.

Coffee Morning

My next Coffee Morning is scheduled for Friday 5th February, from 9:30am on Zoom.

Of course, these coffee mornings are best when we can meet each other in person and although video conferencing and webinars are great tools, nothing will replace the feeling of those parent interactions when you visit the school safely and experience the buzz from our students working as you make your way to the Assembly Hall for these coffee mornings. We look forward to being able to revert back to this as soon as the guidance allows us to do so safely. In the meantime, this has been scheduled as an online event - if this changes, you'll be notified accordingly.

A Level Subject Options Evening

We've just held a very successful virtual IGCSE Options event this week, I'm sure our students and parents found it very informative and useful. I encourage all students to find out as much information about their subjects as possible before submitting their final subject choices.

Similarly, our upcoming A Level Options event is an ideal opportunity for students and parents in Key Stage 4 and particularly in Year 11 to find out some key information about the A Level programme in Years 12 - 13, hearing from your subject teachers about the curriculum, subject options, expectations, and more, allowing you to make an informed decision regarding your A Level subject choices as you enter Sixth Form. More about the event here.

Parent Survey

The link to our annual Parent Survey was sent out last week to all parents via email, which will provide us with important feedback to continue to improve your child’s experience at BISL.

Thank you to those who have already taken the time complete this survey, it is very much appreciated. If you haven't yet, the deadline to do so is Friday 29th January. I am keen to hear your views and will, of course, share the results with you in the near future.

Urgent Communications

All urgent updates continue to be sent via email.

Please monitor your emails for future updates as this continues to be the best way to send out clear and consistent communication to all parents. Check that you are receiving emails, have enough space in your email folder, that they do not go to your 'junk' folder and if you are unsure, please contact reception@britishschool.si to check your contact email and phone number on record. If you change any contact details, please inform the school immediately.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards,

Paul Walton
