BISL provides a caring, nurturing environment which allows children to thrive and enjoy their learning experience
Learning is based on the English National Curriculum's Early Years Foundation Stage framework with a topic-based approach, enhanced by free-flow learning.
We plan an exciting and challenging curriculum based on our observation of the children’s needs, interests and stages of development across seven areas of learning to enable the children to achieve and exceed the early learning goals.
All the seven areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive.
These three are the prime areas:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
Children are also supported through the four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied.
Children are provided with a range of rich, meaningful first-hand experiences in which they explore, think creatively and are active. We aim to develop and foster positive attitudes towards learning, confidence, communication and physical development.
Parents are involved at every stage, and are regularly updated on their child's progress. Our Early Years Team works very closely with the school's Primary School Team, to ensure our students have a seamless transition into the Primary School.
Having both Early Years and Primary School on the same campus offers significant benefits, including easier transitions for students as they move from one stage to the next. This setup ensures stability, consistency, and a unified approach to education, fostering a sense of security and familiarity that supports students' academic and personal development.
