Ms Descamps first studied at the University of Namur (Belgium) where she obtained a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, followed by a MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology. During her master she started working in biomedical research laboratories. Her first research project (in Belgium) was centered on the impact of UV light on skin ageing. Her second research project (in Cambridge, UK) focused on autophagy, a mechanism of cell self-digestion involved in various diseases.

Once her master done, Ms Descamps moved to Canada for a year, where she joined a research lab at the University of Montreal to investigate the mechanism of cell division. She then moved to London, where she obtained a MPhil in Biosciences from University College London, while conducting research on autophagy again.

After almost 5 years working in labs, she decided to leave her lab coat and microscope behind and to become a teacher. Having successfully obtained her PGCE from London Metropolitan University, she joined a state school in North London as a Science teacher, where she taught for 3 years before moving to Slovenia.
