We are very proud of our vibrant international community, and our International Days were the perfect way to celebrate our diversity together here at BISL.
One of our biggest family events, organised each year in partnership with our wonderful PTA and parent volunteers, this year's International Days have been a huge success. Everyone in our community has been looking forward to being able to celebrate this fantastic event together again, and it certainly did not disappoint!
Celebrations kicked off with some Slovene cultural workshops and various other cultural activities in class on Monday - Wednesday for our students.
Then, Thursday morning saw the ever-colourful Flag Parade at the International Days Opening Ceremony, with students from over 40 different nationalities proudly welcoming everyone in their mother tongue as they took the stage with their handmade flags from all over the globe.
Following the morning's excitement, our students were treated to a brilliant show by professional champion dancers from the Diamant Dance School, who performed various fantastic international dances from the English Waltz, through the Tango, to the Cha Cha Cha. At the end of their show, they even got the whole audience to join in, much to everyone's delight!
Friday afternoon saw our long awaited International Fair, a true community favourite, with beautiful weather and a vibrant array of country stalls organised by our wonderful parents, rich with delicious traditional cuisine, lots of exciting cultural activities and fun games, music, colourful national dress and decorations from around the world for everyone to enjoy. It was fantastic to see so many parents and visitors come along to celebrate with us!
The performances from our students were equally phenomenal this year, with Year 4 on the African drums, and Year 2 and 3 performing "Hello to all the children of the world".
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the PTA and our wonderful parents who have put such an amazing effort into organising this brilliant event for our community - THANK YOU!
It is a privilege to have such a supportive and enthusiastic group of parents here at BISL, and we look forward to celebrating more successful events together as a community.
