Year 5 and 6 went on an adventurous residential trip from June 19-23rd. We started by ascending 900m up a mountain path leading from Slap Savica in Bohinj to Dom na Komni, a hut offering spectacular views of both Lake Bohinj below, and the surrounding mountain peaks of the Triglav national park. From this base, we followed our guides to view some of the local sights, and had a quick survival lesson about how to overcome harsh weather conditions in the mountains in both winter and summer braving sub-zero temperatures and thunder storms.

On the second day, we undertook an epic hike, visiting 3 of the famous lakes of the 7 lake valley. Students were stoic and remained in high spirits despite the long 11 hour adventure from door to door. A helicopter rescue of an unlucky hiker (not one of ours) added to the already amazing spectacles of the day.

Day three saw us descend once again to Lake Bohinj, where water sports were the order of the final days of the trip. Students tried stand up paddling, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing a low ropes course amongst other free time activities.

Overall it can be said that students came back tired, but extremely satisfied with their experiences, and their resilience greatly impressed both their teachers and guides alike.
