Welcome to the British International School of Ljubljana. You've taken the first steps to becoming part of our vibrant international community.

We are very proud of our school and would love the opportunity to show you around our facilities, give you a chance to speak to some of our teachers and our Principal, and meet our students, to allow you to make an informed choice as to what is best for you and your family. Why not arrange your visit today?

In a nutshell, our Admissions Process is as follows:

1. Initial Meeting

An initial meeting is arranged with our Admissions Team as well as the Principal, for you to ask us lots of questions, take a tour around our facilities and for us to get to know your child, in order to assess whether BISL is the right fit for them.

2. Taster Day

To help with the decision process, we encourage families to take advantage of our Taster Day programme, where your child can spend a full day in school to experience what it’s like to be a student at BISL.

A Personal Information Form will need to be completed for this and submitted to our Admissions Team.

3. Assessment

Students aged 6 and above joining our school, will take a CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test), for us to be able to understand the student's wider abilities. CAT4s are the UK’s most widely used computer-based test of reasoning abilities for children aged 6-17+ years. Measuring the four main types of ability known to make a difference to learning and achievement, CAT4 provides an independent perspective on potential student achievement, with reliable information for each child that will help identify where to provide extra support or set more challenging targets.

More information about our admission criteria can be found here.

4. Application

Our Admissions Team will send you a follow-up email, along with an Admissions Pack which will typically include:

You will be asked to submit a completed Application Form with the required supporting documents (student’s photo, passport or ID copy, and two most-recent end-of-term reports), as well as the Payment of Fees Form, and two copies of the Acceptance Form to our Admissions Team.

We will assist you in completing these documents if necessary.

5. Place Offered

The Principal will then go through your Application Form and may contact your child’s current and/or previous school(s) for additional information if deemed necessary.

Once the Principal gives his approval, an Offer Letter is sent to you (which may specify certain special conditions), together with an Invoice for Initial Charges (Registration Fee and Enrolment Deposit).

6. Letter of Confirmation

Upon receipt of this payment, our Admissions Team will send you a confirmation letter and return a countersigned copy of the Acceptance Form. Congratulations, your child’s place is now formally reserved!

Please note that whilst we are a non-selective school, we do take into consideration whether the school can meet any specific learning needs and do have certain English language requirements for entry into Years 10 and 12, please see our admissions criteria for more details on this. Please keep in mind that places are limited, and applications will be handled on a first come first served basis.
